How to Maintain and Care for Your Floor Scrubber

An automatic floor scrubber makes quick work of large, dirty floors. No matter whether your floors are made from concrete, wood, vinyl, tile or something else, an automatic floor scrubber can get rid of greasy residues, dirt and other buildup. These tips will help you keep your floor scrubber working well.

Before Scrubbing
Before using your floor scrubber, check to make sure that its batteries or electrical cords are working. Check that all of its hoses are attached. Measure out the correct amount of cleaning solution and pour it into the holding tank. Choose the right scrubbing pad or brush for the type of surface that you are cleaning.

While Scrubbing
As you scrub, make wide turns so you do not tip the machine over. Take care to move carefully around the hoses so you do not trip or get tangled up in them. Walk only on the dry surfaces of the floor that have not yet been scrubbed by the scrubber.

After Scrubbing
After each use of the floor scrubber, empty its recovery tank. Leaving the residue in the tank could cause mold to grow within the recovery chamber. Flush out the tank according to the manufacturer's instructions, as this helps to remove sticky residue and lessens the risk of mold and mildew growth. Check the scrubbing brush for buildup and clean its bristles. Remove dirty scrubbing pads and clean or replace them as needed.
